The Ten Benefits of Taking Lessons At The Music Bureau
1. Your first lesson is always free!
With our first lesson free program, the student is able to take a free lesson with an instructor and see if it's the right fit for them. There is no obligation or commitment for the first lesson, and there is absolutely no charge.
2. Many different instruments taught in one location.
This saves our students and their families both money and time. Rather than having to drive to multiple places at different times, we offer all kinds of different lessons at the same time.
3. The most qualified music instructors in the Eastern Connecticut area.
All of our instructors either have university training in music, or professional performing experience. Our instructors work with the student to create a lesson program that is right for them.
4. The widest range of lesson times available.
We are open seven days a week and will be able to find a lesson time that works for you.
Business Hours:
Monday - Friday: 11:00am - 8:00pm

5. A convenient, accessible location.
Located at the Salem Four Corners Plaza at the intersection of routes 82 and 85, The Music Bureau is in an easy, major location in the town of Salem.
6. Free recitals and performances on "The Big Stage."
Located within The Music Bureau is "The Big Stage." Students can perform solo, with instructors, or with a full band. We frequently hold performances with both student and professional performers.
7. Fully stocked and equipped lesson studios.
Our lesson studios come equipped with amplifies, cables, and everything else you would need to play right away. We even have instruments the students can use if they don't have their own.
8. A comfortable waiting area for parents.
Families of students enjoy a waiting area with comfortable chairs, children's toys, television, snacks, beverages, magazines, books, and free Wi-Fi.
9. A knowledgeable and professional staff.
The staff of The Music Bureau is both professional and friendly. We are able to assist you with any questions you may have and even perform a variety of services, such as small repairs and stringing instruments, all free of charge.
10. Lessons on a monthly basis.
Rather than a lengthy semester type system which requires a large payment up front, our lesson program is on a monthly basis with some of the best prices in the area. You can find detailed information about this further down the page.
Lessons Offered:
No obligation - you don't pay until the next lesson.
Lessons are a flat rate of $90.00 per month and you pay nothing extra for a 5 week month (30 minute lessons once/week).
The Music
Bureau has some of the lowest prices in the area and we strive to offer you more.
Starting May 1st, 2011 The Music Bureau has a flat
lesson rate of $90.00
per month. There is no charge for the 5th week in a month.
That leaves the
possibility of 4-5 free lessons per year.
In
order to keep track of lessons properly there are a few rules we must have in
place.
The rate of $90.00 per month is a flat rate and will not vary unless there is an emergency situation. The Music Bureau reserves the right to limit the number of emergency credits per year.
At The Music Bureau, we want our students
and teachers to be able to focus on lessons. All teachers are self contracted – they are
not paid unless payment is received by the store. Our instructors drive to the store from New London, Groton,
Willimantic, Mansfield, Columbia, etc… In order to ensure our instructors that the
lessons they teach will be paid for, we must require payment on the last lesson
week of the previous month. If payment
isn’t made in person, it can be made by credit card over the phone or online
through PayPal. If you forget your normal method of payment or just forget to
pay and leave the store without paying…No Problem…payment can be made by credit
card over the phone or online through PayPal. If you have a lesson payment credit
for any situation, payment is still due on last week of the previous month,
regardless of how many credits you have.
$90.00
is due on the last week of every month, and if a lesson is missed, you will
only be given the option of a makeup lesson, based on the instructors schedule. Missed lessons will not be
carried over as payment into the next month. Emergency situations will be taken into
account. The Music Bureau reserves the right to limit the number of emergency
credits per year. If your lesson day falls on a holiday that The Music Bureau
is scheduled to be closed, you must reschedule your lesson.
If payment is not received by the 1st of the month for the following months lessons, a $10.00 late fee will be incurred.
The
following payment options are available:
Cash
Personal
or Business Check
Credit
Card (in person or by phone) Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover
PayPal
online payment
If lessons are not paid for in advance
instructors reserve the right to withhold lessons.
If you cannot attend your lesson, 24-hour
notification is appreciated. We ask that you give 24 hours notice when
rescheduling a lesson so we can notify the instructors. A lesson reschedule is
made based on the instructor’s availability. However, to take advantage
of makeup lessons, students must remain active. A no call no show absence will
not receive a make up lesson credit. A cancellation on the day of a lesson does
not have to be given a credit and it is the instructor’s decision if the lesson
will be made up.
All instructors are self contracted, so any makeups and/or credits are under the control of the instructors.
If an instructor is forced to cancel a
lesson, The Music Bureau will make an attempt to
provide a substitute teacher and if a substitute cannot be provided, a reschedule with the instructor can be made.
If you can’t make it or school closes due
to the weather and the music store is open, you can get a reschedule credit,
but not a payment credit. If the music store is closed due to weather, or an
instructor cancels due to weather, you and the instructor must reschedule.
Students absent from lessons with no
payment for 2 weeks in a row will be taken off the schedule. It is then up to
the instructor to decide if lessons will be continued.
The Music Bureau is not responsible for providing
supervision or care for students, their friends, siblings before or after
lessons. Students are not to be left for excessive time before or after
lessons.
The
Music Bureau will be closed for the following holidays:
New Year’s Day - July 4th -
Labor Day - Thanksgiving Day - Christmas Eve - Christmas Day
Bounced check fee:
The Music Bureau will charge an additional $20.00 fee plus
the original amount the check is made out for.
